Entries open for Second International KCK Award, for print journalism

Patrika group, one of the most prestigious media groups of the country has announced the second International KCK Award. The theme of KCK 2008 is ‘Terrorism and Society’. This annual award, in the sanctified memory of Karpoor Chandra Kulish, is aimed at recognizing efforts of thought leaders in media, journalist’s outstanding contributions to upholding professional values as well as protecting and promoting ethics and morality, right and freedom of the people for better quality of life.

Winning team would be awarded US $ 11,000. One medal and a certificate shall be awarded to each team member. The trophy and prize money shall be awarded to the institution or team leader (in case of independent team) on behalf of the team. Apart from this, 10 entries shall also receive special mention and would be awarded certificate & a medal.

The Second KCK Award for excellence in print journalism will be open to those who have authored and published the most compelling news-stories in media contributing to changing the lives and meeting the aspirations of people. The world media, in particular the print media, assumes a crucial role when it comes to handling the most critical situations. It assumes high level of responsibility when it comes to reporting events of sensitive significance. The central point of this award is that journalists accomplish their work through a narrative duality. During everyday news, journalists apply a professional narrative that represents a balance between their core journalistic values and the social pressures from their working world. In the first KCK established in year 2007, ‘Dawn’ from Pakistan and ‘Hindustan Times’ were declared the joint winners.

There is no entry fee for the award. Entries should be based on published news between 1st January 2008 to 31st December 2008. The last date for the award entries is 31st January 2009. More detail of the Award could be fetched from Patrika.com. Awards are restricted to Print Media only.
